Using our God-given talent to work together

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given us, let us use them. ROMANS 12:4-6a

Having the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God live on the inside of you is certainly the greatest blessing, for the gospel even calls us a blessed generation. But second to that is certainly the gifts of the Spirit, which God has given each of us (Ephesians 4:8-13). This is awesome and powerful! These are supernatural gifts; or I like to say they're beyond human capability. Each believer has at least one gift. So when the enemy tells you that you're worthless and your life is pointless, he is a liar and he has been since the beginning. This super-human ability that you've been gifted with also has the power of the Spirit to do what God wills it to do (Ephesians 3:16-20). He equips you for every good work for doing His will (2 Timothy 3:17, Hebrews 13:21).

Life offers no greater joy then to help someone in need when you have the capacity. Before I became a christian, I only cared about myself. I didn't realize I was selfish; I thought I was just seeking what I could get out of life. On my path, I'd meet people who were extraordinary kind or gracious. These people left an imprint on me. I thought of them as lights, even before I knew Christ or the gospel. I would ask God to see more of them. They were few and far between. But they began to increase in frequency, and oh how I loved these people. They gave life to my dead bones for life was hard, even cruel. I didn't even believe love existed for I was never shown it. So these loving people were rare treasures to me.

I remember the first time, I became this light myself to another. Oh the joy I had; it was the happiest day of my life. I had a 'light' encounter but this time I was the light. What a glorious day. I longed to be that light as often as I could and at the time, I didn't even understand it. It would take me years before I understood that it was the work of the Holy Spirit in these people and in myself. I was my happiest in serving others; this is the glory of the LORD shining from within us.

My ability to shine brightest was developed inside the walls of a church. I know the new age spiritualism says you can have God and not the church, but that's simply not the truth. Jesus is the church; he is the head and we are the body. Our Lord tells us that He will cut off any branch that does not produce fruit (John 15:2). A branch cut off from the vine withers. Finding a good bible-based church was food for my soul, as I was accurately being feed the word of God, my soul thirsted for more so I began to read the bible for myself. Attending church twice a week wasn't enough, I needed to be feed daily.

I can't imagine where I'd be without my relationship with Lord Jesus. He is here daily to lead and protect me. He is my comfort. He has lead me through so many difficult life circumstances. There are days, I feel He is my only friend, my only helper. I wouldn't be able to handle life without Him. I've asked for so many little things and He has willed it to happen, just as I asked. I've been asked for Him to have people do or say something because I was too nervous to begin a conversation and He makes it happen. It's shocking to me that He wants to be involved in everything, everything, in my life. This relationship developed because I made the decision to attend church. I even went when I felt oppressed and didn't want to go. Those were the times I needed it the most. My coworkers would notice that on Thursday I was particularly happy despite how down I might have been the day before. It was all because I went to church on Wednesday night and was feed the word of God. This would eventually be the light one man needed to see to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

I didn't go to make friends or question others faith or actions, I went to church to meet God. This is where my true faith and relationship with God blossomed. This is where you'll find not only God, but yourself. You'll find your passion, which is your gift.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. 1 PETER 4:10

Rest in this truth and seek to glorify God by fully developing your relationship with Him. The passions that build within you will clearly be seen and you'll discover your gift. We are all members of the body of Christ, which is the church (1 Corinthians 12, 1 Timothy 5:17). These gifts were given to build up and edify the other members. We all are to work together to strengthen and build the Kingdom of God.

We just pray for LORD Jesus to bless us with an abundance of faith so that we can grow in the knowledge of Him in order that His glory will shine through us for the world to see and know that He is alive and with us. We ask the LORD to reveal Himself so we can develop the intimate relationship that He so desires to have with us. We ask for the Spirit to lead us into the knowledge of our gifting and equip us with the power to effectively use them to advance the Kingdom of God. AMEN.
