The Law and the Promise
The Law of Moses Enslaved us Binding us to Sin
Moses last words he spoke over the nation Israel, sounded more like a curse then a future blessing.
The Witnesses Against Israel. As God repaired the transition of leadership from Moses to Joshua, there were several writing that served as witnesses against the children of Israel. God had Moses write a song for them to sing, for He knew they would grow fat, turn to other gods, despise Him and break His covenant. So when many evils come upon them, this song will serve as a witness against them as their descendants sing it. (Deuteronomy 31:19:21). When Moses finished writing the book of the Law, he told the Levites to sit it beside the ark of the covenant as a witness against them, as he pointed to their rebellion and stubbornness while he lived, and declared how much more after my death! He gathered Israel together to read the song God wrote, so heaven and earth could also be witnesses against them, as he knew they'd act wickedly after his death, causing God to become angry.
Who is Your Rock? Jesus is the rock.
Why the Law then? It was to defeat sin and death and the curse. *** Can use stuff you already stated **** add the curse of Israel being in Egypt for 430 years, and then being released, told to Abraham. Moses' glory is that he released them from this curse, of slavery, which is the law. Because the law was not to be confused with the promise, they didn't cross. The promise was given 430 years before the law (Galatians 3:17) and the promised was fulfilled after the death of Moses, the symbol of the law (Deuteronomy 31:2-3).
Cast Two Lots. Aaron is to put on the sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments next to his body (Leviticus 16:4). On the day of atonement, Aaron took two goats, and set them before the LORD, and he would cast lots for them.
Promise Given to Abraham. 430 years before the law (Galatians 3:17).
Blessing of Abraham. *** Moses could not go in, Joshua took them""" (Open up with the promise here, then go to moses). When Moses turned 120, the Lord told him, You shall not cross over the Jordan (Deuteronomy 31:2). God was going to cross over before them and dispossess the land, with Moses' servant, Joshua leading the people (Deuteronomy 31:3). Despite not having Moses, who was made like unto a god to them so they would listen, God told Joshua, Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land that the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall put them in possession of it (Deuteronomy 31:7).
The Curse Foretold. *** Resume with Moses giving the curse. ***
